With local school districts in Broward and Miami-Dade counties honoring the nationwide Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work program, JDL Technologies was delighted to host an interactive, discovery day on May 3rd, 2012. The all-day program highlighted technology as well as featured various professional roles within JDL Technologies such as operations, sales, marketing, engineering, and finance to an outstanding group of JDL Technologies children. Throughout the activities, the children learned valuable life skills about teamwork through group presentations and games, how to create a business plan and present it to the group, and much about technology from hardware and device identification to taking apart servers with JDL’s engineers.
The ages of the children ranged from five to eleven for a total of eight eager learners. The activities varied from playing twenty questions to identify JDL Technologies staff members’ roles to taking turns drawing technology devices in Techno-Pictionary; all kept the children busy. Despite not knowing each other before hand, all found commonalities whether through future professional aspirations, favorite subjects in school, or even in extra-curricular activities like movies, animals, or ice cream through the Make-Your-Own-Sundae bar.
All were excited to expose daughters and sons to the JDL Technologies workplace with the goal of reinforcing the value of their education, help them discover possibilities, and begin thinking about their professional paths in the future. In its 20th anniversary, the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work program was yet again another success at JDL Technologies.
